Reiki Infused Sound Baths

Sound is Medicine

Sound Baths are an ancient tradition and were used to treat many illnesses and conditions. The frequencies and waves of sound calm the nervous system, balance the subtle body, and bring us back to homeostasis, which is where we can maintain a stable internal state despite changes in the world outside. Homeostasis is where we function most optimally as humans.

Sound Baths are a deeply relaxing, rejuvenating, and meditative experience, and they stimulate healing on all levels, including physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Participants are “bathed” in frequencies and sounds produced by various healing instruments, including crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, chimes, drums, tuning forks, rain sticks, gongs, and more.

The general intention of a Sound Bath is to create a harmonious state in the participant as the sound clears and balances the human energy field. They can be a profound experience, and are excellent for relieving stress, insomnia, anxiety, and depression. They also reduce chronic pain and inflammation, provide an increased sense of well-being, open the heart space, and relax the body, mind, and spirit. Most people describe the experience as cleansing or clearing, and very relaxing.

During a Sound Bath, participants typically lie on a yoga mat, however, we always have chairs available for anyone who isn’t at ease laying on a yoga mat for the duration of the event. In addition to bringing a yoga mat, we encourage you to bring a pillow, a bolster for under your knees, an eye mask, or anything else that makes you comfortable.

Reiki and Sound

Sound is a perfect companion to Reiki, as sound waves assist in the release of blockages and restore energetic flow through the physical, energetic, mental and emotional bodies. Sound has a unique way of moving through the body’s density to shift patterns and energies, as does Reiki. As the nervous system entrains to the calming frequencies, your whole being relaxes more fully.

Sound can change an individual’s vibration (frequency) rate, bringing brainwaves into sympathetic alignment (coherence) with matching frequencies.

Entrainment occurs when sound from one source causes other objects to vibrate at a similar frequency. So as the nervous system entrains to the calming frequencies of the sounds, your whole being relaxes more fully.

An example of entrainment is when you two guitars are next to each other or in the same room. When you pluck the C string on one guitar, the C string on the other guitar will automatically vibrate. As sound artists/healers are playing crystal sound bowls, gongs, chimes, and other instruments, your body is entraining to those vibrations, which is why we feel healed, relaxed, rejuvenated, and like blockages are releasing or have been released.
